Summerfruit NZ’s new campaign’s a different take on the traditional kiwi Christmas

Summerfruit NZ, the industry body representing over 240 growers of apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, and plums, has partnered with FizzyPop for their 2024/2025 summer campaign.

After a competitive pitch, FizzyPop, the Hawke’s Bay-based advertising agency, secured the collaboration.

“We wanted to show that sweet and tasty cherries, nectarines, peaches, apricots, and plums can provide people working through or with family commitments with a taste of summer, even if they are not at a holiday spot over December and January,” says Dean Smith, Chief Executive of Summerfruit NZ.

This campaign includes five 15-second ads designed to excite the eyes, captivate the taste, and let the produce shine this summer through vibrant imagery.

“Summer fruits are not just delicious, they epitomize the spirit of a Kiwi summer,” says Tom Young, Director at FizzyPop. “Imagine the taste of a sun-ripened peach or the first fresh cherry on a sweltering Christmas Day, that’s the essence we wanted to bottle in our visuals. We aim to remind everyone that even if you’re tied to your desk or on-shift through the holiday season, you can still savour a slice of summer bliss.”

The campaign will run across TVNZ, YouTube, and social media, with FizzyPop developing a supportive website landing page.

“We love working with Summerfruit NZ,” adds Kristen Curran, Art Director at FizzyPop. “and it’s a perfect fit for our expertise in the agricultural sector. We understand the hard work that goes in from the growers and we want to make sure that the finished executions really captured how juicy and delicious looking the fruit was –  thanks to our friends at the production agency Indelible we’ve once again achieved stunning results!”

Fresh New Zealand-grown summer fruit is available in shops now, with the season extending into February next year. This offers consumers great value on fruits that are perfect as snacks, in salads, as a healthy dessert option, or preserved in traditional Kiwi style.
