From report to roadmap: Unison sharpens its sustainability focus

Unison Group has published a 2025/26 Sustainability Update, sharing progress made over the past year with a maturing framework now guiding sustainability across the Group, and building on the foundation established through Unison Group’s first sustainability report in 2025.

A key development this year is the Unison Group Sustainability Strategy, which sets out how environmental, social and governance considerations will be increasingly integrated into the Group’s wider strategy, systems, processes and decision-making.

The strategy recognises enabling electrification as the most significant contribution Unison Group can make towards regional, national and global sustainability goals. It is supported by focus areas covering a diverse, skilled and community-focused workforce; environmental responsibility; advancing accessibility and reliability; and integrated governance.

The update also outlines the findings of a double materiality assessment informed, and shares sustainability highlights from across the Group including the recovery of sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆) gas by PBA, regeneration of transformer oil by ETEL, and electronic waste recycling at Unison Networks.

Unison Group Chief Executive Jaun Park says the update reflects the next stage in the Group’s sustainability journey.

“Last year we brought together the work already underway across the Group and set out our shared direction. This year, we have built on that foundation with a strategy for where we can have the greatest impact and how sustainability can be more deliberately embedded into the way we plan, invest, operate and make decisions.”

“This update reflects progress, while recognising that our approach is still developing. The next step is to keep strengthening how we track and report our initiatives, projects and outcomes across the Group.”

The 2025/26 Sustainability Update includes the Group’s emissions results and progress across electricity distribution, infrastructure services, consulting, manufacturing and specialist energy solutions.
